Forest of Life—Watching Over

At the Expo’s Sumitomo Pavilion, visitors could take part in the “Plant a Tree” program, allowing them to contribute to the creation of a forest for the future. The Japanese cypress seedlings planted by the children were set in the area where timber had been harvested to build the pavilion. They will eventually grow into a thriving forest to be passed down to future generations. How this “Forest of Life” will look decades or even centuries from now remains to be seen. This section reports on the growth of these saplings.
