Cooperation and Initiatives of Sumitomo Group Companies

The Sumitomo Pavilion was a collaborative endeavor involving 19 member companies of the Sumitomo EXPO2025 Promotion Committee and 15 sponsor companies. At the Expo, Sumitomo Group companies combined their strengths to showcase technologies originating in Japan to the world. This section highlights initiatives that deepened collaboration and strengthened bonds among Sumitomo Group companies.

Trees from the Sumitomo Forest were used in constructing the Sumitomo Pavilion. Guided by the desire to “cherish the life of each and every tree,” benches were crafted from the leftover wood cores that remained after the trees were peeled into thin sheets.

The “wood-core benches” installed at the Sumitomo Pavilion and at various Sumitomo Group companies featured the Sumitomo Pavilion logo, adding to the vibrancy of Expo 2025. Even after the conclusion of the Expo, these benches remain at Sumitomo Group companies as a symbol of collaboration. Crafted from wood sourced from the Besshi Mountains in Shikoku, their natural warmth provides visitors with a welcoming space in which to relax.
