Following the dissolution of the zaibatsu (financial combines) after the war, each company originally in the Sumitomo zaibatsu became independent and began pursuing its own path forward. The establishment of new companies, including trading companies, and several mergers led to the present-day Sumitomo Group.
While Sumitomo Group companies operate independently in their respective business fields, they all adhere to Sumitomo’s Business Philosophy, whose origin is the Monjuin Shiigaki (Founder’s Precepts) composed by Masatomo Sumitomo.
